NavInfo and Baidu sue each other over digital map infringement; Baidu counterclaims RMB 90 million

NavInfo sued Baidu for infringement of electronic map data and unfair competition; the second-instance trial upheld the original judgment, ordering Baidu to pay about RMB 64.5 million (about RMB 65.4266 million including reasonable expenses), and Baidu said it would apply to the Supreme People's Court for retrial. Impact and handling: the data ownership dispute between the two map service providers has lasted for years and involves high claims. Progress: court judgment. Entities involved: Beijing NavInfo Technology Co., Ltd. and Baidu Online Network Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. Scope: NavInfo's electronic map data business.
