After "Double Reduction," Banyu Children's English Faces Refund Hurdles and Allegations of Secretly Changing Service Agreement

After China introduced the "Double Reduction" policy in 2021, Banyu announced it would no longer sell courses taught by overseas foreign teachers to domestic youth. Subsequently, many parents reported that foreign teachers had left and homeroom teachers were frequently replaced, while refund applications remained without a clear plan for a long time; some parents also pointed out that the refund formula in the electronic agreement appeared to have been changed to calculate by standard unit price and to deduct installment handling fees, teaching material and gift costs. The Paper, China Youth Daily and other media reported on the matter intensively. Banyu promised that already purchased courses would be honored according to the contract, but refund disputes continued.
