Prime Intellect announces acquisition of startup Moondream to accelerate inference business

San Francisco-based 'neocloud' provider Prime Intellect announced it will acquire Moondream, an early-stage open-source model developer with fewer than ten employees based in San Francisco and Seattle. Deal terms were not disclosed; Moondream had previously raised $4.5 million. Prime Intellect said the acquisition mainly targets Moondream's team's ability to write high-performance inference-optimization software, including megakernel technology, in order to run open-source models on Nvidia servers at higher speed and lower cost than competitors and to serve customers such as robotics AI and computer-operating agents.
