Red Bull Trademark and Control Dispute with Thailand's TCP Group
Reignwood Group's Yan Bin and Thailand's TCP Group have been involved in more than 60 lawsuits over the Red Bull trademark, equity in the joint venture Red Bull Vitamin Drink Co., Ltd., and control. Courts have ruled that the Red Bull series trademarks belong to TCP; Reignwood's claimed '50-year agreement' has repeatedly not been accepted; in 2024, the Supreme People's Court's final ruling rejected Reignwood's claim regarding 88% equity held on trust; in 2022, Thailand's Supreme Court confirmed that the removal of Yan Bin as chairman of the joint venture was valid. Courts in multiple places have ordered Reignwood affiliates to pay nearly RMB 600 million in cumulative infringement damages. Reignwood launched its own brand in response, and the dispute continues.
