Volkswagen Group recalls plug-in hybrid vehicles over fire risk

    Recall announced

A Volkswagen Group spokesperson said the group would have to recall more than 100,000 plug-in hybrid vehicles globally because of a fire risk linked to insufficiently insulated high-voltage batteries. Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda vehicles were affected; the report also cited a regulator's statement that an inadequately fastened engine design cover could contact hot parts and lead to fire.

    • Some 42,300 owners of Volkswagen Passats, Golfs, Tiguans, and Arteons worldwide will be notified. Volkswagen brand Audi has to recall 24,400 vehicles, while Seat and Skoda are also affected.
