    On July 30, 2023, Shandong Airlines flight SC8856 veered off the runway during landing. An investigation report by the CAAC East China Regional Administration showed that the tower had reported heavy rain, but the crew still chose to land; the event was caused by crew factors and constituted a serious incident in transport aviation. In 2016, Shandong Airlines was also warned by the CAAC East China Regional Administration for failing to implement aircraft airworthiness responsibilities. Relevant crew members were handled; the investigation report was released in May 2024.
