    Former chairman Wu Jianrong sentenced to 12 years for RMB 20.5 million bribery

    Wu Jianrong, former deputy party secretary and chairman of Shanghai Airport (Group) Co., Ltd., accepted disciplinary review and supervisory investigation in August 2018 and was later expelled from the Communist Party and public office. After trial, he was found to have accepted bribes of more than RMB 20.5 million and concealed overseas deposits. In January 2020, the first-instance court sentenced him to 12 years in prison for bribery and concealing overseas deposits, and ordered confiscation of RMB 2 million of personal property. Illicit gains were recovered, and the case became a typical anti-corruption case in Shanghai state-owned enterprises.
