U.S. subsidiary's glucose meters classified by FDA as Class I recall

The TRUE METRIX series blood glucose meters of Trividia, a U.S. subsidiary of Sinocare, have an E-5 error code that indicates both “very high blood glucose” and “test strip error,” which may delay recognition of hyperglycemia; FDA issued an alert and classified it as a Class I recall, with related reports covering 114 injuries and 1 death; the company said the products did not directly cause them. The company updated labels and software, replaced devices for free, and accrued about US$9.68 million (about RMB 68.05 million) in recall costs.
