Ministry of Culture punishes Tencent Animation over violent, pornographic anime content
In 2015, the Ministry of Culture investigated illegal online anime; Tencent Animation was investigated for providing works containing violence, pornography, and content harmful to social morality. Thirteen works were ordered to stop being provided, and seven, including Shi Xiong, were ordered to rectify; in June of the same year, it was placed on the Ministry of Culture's first online anime 'blacklist.' Illegal gains were confiscated and a fine imposed, and the 'Anime VIP' business was suspended for 10 days.
