    Tencent Maps ordered to rectify after CAC and MIIT notices over illegal personal information collection

    In May 2021, the Cyberspace Administration of China notified that the Tencent Maps app violated the necessity principle and collected personal information unrelated to map services, ordering rectification within a deadline; in August of the same year, in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's "look back" notice, Tencent Maps was again ordered to rectify for illegally invoking contacts and location permissions. It rectified on schedule.
