Online English course refunds difficult, provider listed for noncompliant refund rules
In 2018, Taiwan’s Consumers’ Foundation put TutorABC on a list of online course refund rules that did not comply; in 2023, a consumer who spent NT$140,000 on courses tried to back out on the third day but still had difficulty obtaining a refund. Taipei City Legal Affairs Bureau statistics from 2022 to June 2023 showed 46 related complaints. Consumers in mainland China have also complained that cancellation refunds were delayed. The operator said refunds had been handled; Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs plans tiered refund standards for online courses.
