    Cancellation of Alexander Malofeev recital

The Society was criticized after cancelling a planned recital by Russian pianist Alexander Malofeev. The controversy involved expectations that performers of Russian ethnicity make statements of solidarity with Ukraine. Malofeev had condemned the war but did not meet all requirements under discussion; Leila Getz cited the possibility of a confrontation with protesters as the primary reason for the cancellation.
