Wang Jianlin and Wanda Group subjected to high-consumption restrictions in RMB186m enforcement case
In September 2025, Tianyancha and the China Enforcement Information Disclosure Network showed that Dalian Wanda Group and its legal representative Wang Jianlin and others were restricted from high consumption by the Lanzhou Intermediate People’s Court of Gansu Province in case (2025) Gan Zhi Hui No. 249; the enforcement amount was RMB186 million, and those subject to enforcement also included Wuhan Wanda Cultural Tourism Property, Wuhan Chuhe Hanjie Cultural Tourism Investment Co. and Wanda Property Group. At that time, Wanda Group had 10 enforcement records totaling about RMB5.26 billion and 47 equity freeze records totaling about RMB41.5 billion. In July of the same year, Wanda Commercial Management and its legal representative had also been subject to such restrictions. “Wang Jianlin restricted from high consumption” trended. On September 29, the restriction order was canceled; a person familiar with the matter said it was caused by an economic dispute at a subordinate project company and information asymmetry at the enforcement level; however, the incident amplified market concerns about Wanda’s debt and asset-sale process.

Fourth failed IPO by Zhuhai Wanda Commercial Management triggers about RMB38bn listing bet crisis
In 2021, Wanda brought in PAG, CITIC and other strategic investors to invest about RMB38 billion in Zhuhai Wanda Commercial Management, agreeing that if a listing was not completed by the end of 2023, Wanda would repurchase the equity at an annualized return of about 8%. Zhuhai Wanda Commercial Management submitted prospectuses to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange four times starting in 2021, all of which lapsed, leaving no hope of listing in 2023. To resolve the bet, Wanda continued to sell Wanda Plazas and other assets to raise funds. On December 12, 2023, Wanda signed a new agreement with PAG and other investors under which the investors would redeem and then reinvest, with external shareholders holding 60% in total and Wanda’s stake falling to 40%; the new agreement no longer contained bet clauses. The bet crisis was temporarily defused, but Wanda lost absolute control of Zhuhai Wanda Commercial Management, intensifying market concerns about its liquidity.
