Multiple wind turbine collapses and fires

In April 2022, a 3.3MW Windey turbine at China Resources' Neihuang wind project in Henan collapsed only four months after grid connection; Windey acknowledged the turbine was within the warranty period and that it was a parts quality problem. In the same month, a Windey turbine caught fire at the Ningbo Chuanshan wind farm. In September 2024, Typhoon Yagi caused multiple Windey turbines to collapse at a wind farm in Wenchang, Hainan, with estimated losses in the hundreds of millions of yuan; the company said wind speeds far exceeded design standards. There were also online claims that a Windey turbine caught fire at the Xiangshan offshore wind farm, which the company described as "baseless slander." Its stock price suffered, and the company said there was no major impact on operations.
