Xin Rong Ji was founded in 1995 by Zhang Yong in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, initially as a small seafood restaurant.   Beijing Xin Rong Ji Jing Ji Catering's single registered prepaid card exceeded the 5,000 yuan limit and it refused to rectify after being ordered to do so, and was fined by Beijing market regulators; Shenzhen Xin Rong Ji was fined 20,000 yuan for failing to equip safety production management personnel; in 2023, its store suggested children under 12 dine in private rooms, sparking controversy. Fined and rectified.
