Ad copy accused of 'consuming women' backfires; fined for false advertising
In 2022, Mask Family's advertising copy was accused of objectifying and consuming women, and this was not its first controversy; operator Shanghai Yuemu had previously been fined RMB 18,000 for false advertising, and in 2024 was fined another RMB 5,000 for failing to upload whitening efficacy materials. It apologized and withdrew the copy; it was fined.

Mask Family mung bean mud mask fails hygiene standards; sales company fined
According to M&A disclosure documents, a batch (No. f21164c) of Mask Family mung bean mud mask purchased and sold by Guangdong Yueji did not meet cosmetic hygiene standards. Guangzhou food and drug authorities confiscated illegal gains of about RMB 394,400 and imposed a fine of about RMB 1.5776 million. The incident concerns that batch and the sales entity involved. Status: administrative penalty. Entities involved: Guangdong Yueji Cosmetics Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Yuemu Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
