Overview

Arthur Weber AG is a Swiss company specializing in building technology, steel technology, plumbing, energy technology, metalwork, hardware, locking systems, and occupational safety. Founded in 1868 by Anton Weber as a small hardware store in Schwyz, the company has grown into a nationwide corporate group and is one of the leading providers of building technology product systems, tools, and hardware in Central Switzerland. The company operates an online shop and offers a 24-hour emergency service. It remains family-owned, now in its fifth generation, and has expanded through both new locations and acquisitions of Swiss companies. Its headquarters are in Schwyz, Switzerland.

History

Arthur Weber AG traces its origins to 1868, when Anton Weber founded a hardware store in the house «Bären» on Herrengasse in Schwyz. As customer needs grew, the company expanded its activities. In 1907, it rented its first plot of land with a rail connection in Seewen and established its first warehouse there. In 1912, new owners Melchior Weber-Diebold and Eugen Diebold-Weber took over. By 1923, Melchior Weber became the sole owner. In 1939, a reinforcing steel bending facility was set up in Seewen, followed by the construction of the «Eisenhof» in Seewen in 1940. In 1951, Arthur Weber-Klein became the new owner. The company continued to grow: in 1967, a bending facility and reinforcing steel warehouse opened on Militärstrasse in Schattdorf; in 1972, a sanitary warehouse was built in Schattdorf and ARTHUR WEBER IMMOBILIEN AG was founded. In 1982, a bar steel hall and a retail store were built in Schattdorf. In 1985, Arthur Weber-Elsener became the new owner. In 1990, the company took over Seeholzer AG in Küssnacht and opened a retail store there. In 1994, a new building was opened. Over the decades, the company expanded its range of specialist areas and locations across Switzerland, acquiring existing Swiss companies to preserve regional presence. It has remained family-owned for five generations and has grown into today's corporate group.
