Overview

Assolombarda is the association of companies operating in the Metropolitan City of Milan and the provinces of Lodi, Monza e Brianza and Pavia. According to its own description, it is the most important association in the entire Confindustria system by size and representativeness, representing 7,158 companies of every size, national and international, producing goods and services across all product sectors, with approximately 446,446 employees. It protects the interests of member companies in relations with institutional counterparts and territorial stakeholders in areas including training, environment, culture, economy, labour and civil society, and offers specialist consultancy services across business areas. It also relies on the support of Assolombarda Servizi Spa – Società Benefit, a services company wholly owned by Assolombarda, which for over 40 years has supported the competitiveness and development of companies; in July 2022 Assolombarda Servizi Spa became a 'Società Benefit'. Its registered office is in Milan at Via Pantano 9, with additional offices in Monza e Brianza, Lodi, Pavia, Vigevano and Voghera.

In 1902 the Federazione degli industriali monzesi was created to promote 'the awareness of social and civil values and the behaviours proper to entrepreneurship in the context of a free society in development', and it stood out both for the effectiveness of its representation and protection of entrepreneurial interests and for the innovation it brought to industrial relations. In 1903 the Associazione Commercianti Esercenti e Industriali di Milano was constituted, an organisation without a trade-union representation function; in 1908 the Lega Industriale was founded, and in 1910 the Federazio...
