Overview
Auspicia is a peer-reviewed academic journal published in the Czech Republic and focused on the social sciences and humanities. It was founded in 2004 and was originally published by the College of European and Regional Studies (Vysoká škola evropských a regionálních studií) in cooperation with the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague and the South Bohemian branch of the Czech Political Science Society in České Budějovice. Since 2019, the University of Technology and Economics (Vysoká škola technická a ekonomická) – Institute of Corporate Strategy in České Budějovice has joined as a co-publisher, reflecting a new vision and a partly updated specification of the journal's content focus. The journal's original publication frequency has changed to the current two issues per year, in electronic-only form. As an international periodical, Auspicia has undergone several substantial changes: a newly established international editorial board supplemented by prominent experts in the social sciences and humanities; the definition of four thematic sections that delimit the journal's content scope; and, in connection with its international dimension, a preference for contributions in English alongside the possibility of publishing in Czech. The journal adheres to the principle of open access and was included in the international ERIH+ database in 2016. The Research, Development and Innovation Council, as an expert and advisory body of the Government of the Czech Republic, has classified Auspicia among the reviewed non-impacted journals listed in NRRE. Since 2020, precise identification of every published article has been ensured through a centralized DOI identifier system. Currently, and based on positive feedback in the academic environment, authors from abroad as well as from Czechia contribute to individual issues of the journal.
History
Auspicia was founded in 2004 as a peer-reviewed academic journal focused on the social sciences and humanities. From its establishment it was published by the College of European and Regional Studies (Vysoká škola evropských a regionálních studií) in cooperation with the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague and the South Bohemian branch of the Czech Political Science Society in České Budějovice. In 2016 the journal was accepted into the international ERIH+ database, an important recognition of its scholarly quality and international orientation. In connection with a new vision and a partly updated specification of its content focus, the University of Technology and Economics (Vysoká škola technická a ekonomická) – Institute of Corporate Strategy in České Budějovice became a co-publisher in 2019. The journal's original publication frequency was changed to the current two issues per year, in electronic-only form. As part of its internationalization, Auspicia established a new international editorial board with prominent experts in the social sciences and humanities, defined four thematic sections delimiting its content scope, and began to prefer contributions in English while still allowing publication in Czech. The Research, Development and Innovation Council, an expert and advisory body of the Government of the Czech Republic, classified Auspicia among the reviewed non-impacted journals listed in NRRE. Since 2020, every published article has been precisely identified through a centralized DOI identifier system. The journal adheres to the principle of open access and, based on positive feedback in the academic environment, now attracts authors from abroad as well as from Czechia.
