Overview
Autosur is a French chain of vehicle technical inspection centres. The network was created in 1990 by the Société Européenne de Contrôle Technique Automobile (SECTA), which was founded by insurance companies Abeille, AGF, AXA, Groupama and UAP together with TÜV Bayern and TÜV Rheinland; MACIF joined SECTA in 1999. Since 1 January 1992, when regulatory vehicle technical inspection came into force, the Autosur brand has operated as a network of inspection centres. The network comprises more than 900 centres across France staffed by 1,800 professionals, and SECTA also operates the Motosur by Autosur label for category L vehicles.
History
In January 1990, the insurance companies Abeille, AGF, AXA, Groupama and UAP, together with the two European technical inspection specialists TÜV Bayern and TÜV Rheinland, created the Société Européenne de Contrôle Technique Automobile (SECTA). MACIF joined SECTA in 1999. SECTA is a private-sector company entrusted by the Administration with a public-service mission to build the Autosur vehicle technical inspection network, and it guarantees that Autosur centres comply with regulatory requirements and operate properly. Since 1 January 1992, when regulatory vehicle technical inspection came into force, the Autosur brand has operated as a network. The network has grown to more than 900 centres across France with 1,800 professionals. SECTA also operates the Motosur by Autosur label dedicated to inspecting category L vehicles.
