Overview

Bahnen der Stadt Monheim is a transport company based in Monheim am Rhein, Germany. It operates bus lines and autonomous shuttles in the region, and has a history dating back to 1908.

History

The company was founded on December 5, 1908, when electric railway operations began on the route Langenfeld Bahnhof – Monheim Heerweg. Initially operated by RWE, the network expanded to about 13 kilometers. In 1962, the city of Monheim took over operations and the company was renamed Bahnen der Stadt Monheim. Passenger transport shifted from rail to road, and a city bus system was developed.
