BelKava

BelKava is a Belarusian coffee producer based in Oshmyany. Its official website presents the company as a manufacturer and supplier of coffee, coffee drinks, spices and seasonings in the Republic of Belarus. The product range includes natural ground and roasted coffee, instant granulated coffee, and a wide assortment of dry seasonings and spices.

The enterprise traces its origins to 1946, when a craft artel named '9 May' was organized in Oshmyany by decision of the regional industrial council. It included workshops for syrups and liqueurs, leather, flour and groats, sausage, bakery, blacksmithing and tin. On 20 June 1954, by order of the Molodechno regional food combine, the artel was transformed into the Oshmyany district food combine. From 24 June 1960 it was renamed the Oshmyany canning factory. In March 1970 the canning factory was merged into the Lida food concentrate combine, and the enterprise specialized in non-instant coffee drinks based on cereals (barley, rye, oats) and corn sticks. It was the sole enterprise in the Republic of Belarus producing that range, supplying the BSSR market and all regions of the former USSR. From December 1982 reconstruction and rebuilding began; the factory was rebuilt, and new Spanish equipment from the company 'Teka yre' using gas fuel was installed, increasing output of coffee drinks and natural coffee, with a monthly capacity of up to 120 tons. In July 1993 a decision was made to leave the association, and the enterprise was named the Oshmyany coffee and chicory factory. The product range was expanded and production volumes increased; the factory also provided roasting and packaging services for other enterprises.
