Overview

BellandVision GmbH is a German service company specialising in the system participation of sales packaging in the dual system (duales System) and in nationwide location disposal. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Pegnitz near Bayreuth, it grew into Germany's largest self-disposal community under the former packaging ordinance before being acquired by the waste management company Sita in 2008, becoming part of the SUEZ group. Since 2008 it has operated as a nationwide dual system. Following Veolia's acquisition of large parts of SUEZ in 2022, BellandVision became part of the Veolia Group, a global environmental services provider. The company's core business is the licensing of sales packaging that typically reaches end consumers. On the basis of the German Packaging Act (Verpackungsgesetz), BellandVision assumes responsibility for the proper collection, sorting and recovery of licensed packaging and must meet legally prescribed recycling quotas. It also organises centralised nationwide disposal for companies with multiple locations, covering all types of waste, and offers Design for Recycling consulting together with experts from circpack, including an online tool for self-assessment of packaging recyclability. BellandVision serves a broad range of industries with individual disposal concepts, including transport and commercial packaging take-back. Its early major customers included EDEKA, Rossmann and Müller. In 2017 and 2018 it held a market share of around 15 to 20 percent, making it the second-largest dual system in Germany. Since the beginning of 2020 it has been the largest dual system in Germany. The company also provides support packages for customers regarding LUCID, the Packaging Act and the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), and offers a free PPWR whitepaper and an online licensing calculator.

History

BellandVision GmbH was founded in 1999 as a service company for packaging take-back and disposal, with its registered office in Pegnitz near Bayreuth. Until 2007 it grew into Germany's largest self-disposal community (Selbstentsorgergemeinschaft) under the packaging ordinance in force at the time. Before its acquisition, the company belonged to a group of shareholders that included Phil Collins, Hubertus Bahlsen, Frank Binder, Carl Christian von Weizsäcker and managing partner Roland Belz. In 2008 BellandVision was acquired by the waste management company Sita and thereby became part of the SUEZ group. Since 2008 it has been active nationwide as a dual system. Some of its first major customers were EDEKA, Rossmann and Müller. In 2017 and 2018 BellandVision had a percentage market share of around 15 to 20 percent, making it the second-largest dual system in Germany. Since the beginning of 2020 it has been the largest dual system in Germany. Large parts of the French water and waste group SUEZ were acquired by Veolia in 2022. BellandVision was part of this merger and has since belonged to the Veolia Group, a provider of environmental services. Today the company operates a dual system for the licensing of sales packaging throughout Germany, organises location disposal for companies with a larger number of branches, and offers services in the area of Design for Recycling, including advisory work with circpack experts and an online tool for self-assessment of packaging recyclability.
