Overview

BHS Aviation is a business aviation group with operations in Germany and Switzerland. It was founded in 2008 as BHS Helicopterservice, initially providing factory transport flights for the German automotive supplier Brose using two helicopters. Over the years, the company expanded its services and locations, forming a partnership with DC Aviation in 2016 and acquiring DC Aviation Switzerland AG in 2019, which was renamed BHS Aviation AG. The group now offers jet charter, helicopter charter, aircraft management, and handling services, with bases at Bamberg-Breitenau airfield in Germany and Zurich Airport in Switzerland. BHS Aviation holds an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the German Luftfahrt-Bundesamt for helicopters and from the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation for aeroplanes, allowing it to conduct commercial passenger and business flights independently. The fleet includes helicopters and jets, such as the Cessna Citation Latitude and Leonardo AW109SP. The company emphasizes safety, discretion, and operational excellence, serving private individuals and business travellers.

History

BHS Aviation was founded in 2008 as BHS Helicopterservice. Initially, it operated two helicopters, an Airbus Helicopters H135 and an AgustaWestland AW109SP, to handle factory transport for the approximately 14 German branches of the international automotive supplier Brose. In 2016, a cooperation with DC Aviation, based in Stuttgart, was agreed. This partnership expanded BHS Aviation's offering to include commercial passenger transport at the locations Bamberg, Stuttgart, and Zurich. As part of the partnership, DC Aviation's operating license was extended to include the commercial use of helicopters. Since 2018, BHS Aviation pilots have been certified by the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (BAZL) to fly to mountain landing sites in Switzerland. These are landing sites outside of airfields and without infrastructure, located above 1,100 meters above sea level, used for tourist passenger transport. In May 2019, DC Aviation Switzerland AG was acquired and renamed BHS Aviation AG effective October 1, 2019, while BHS Helicopterservice became BHS Aviation GmbH. From the locations Bamberg (Germany) and Zurich (Switzerland), three helicopters were in operation. On October 21, 2020, BHS Aviation GmbH Bamberg received its operating license as an airline from the German Federal Aviation Office (LBA). The Air Operator Certificate (AOC) is the prerequisite for transporting passengers, mail, or cargo in commercial air traffic with helicopters. Additionally, BHS Aviation received approval for continuing airworthiness management (CAMO) for helicopters. In December 2022, BHS Aviation AG expanded its fleet with a new Cessna Citation Latitude. Since receiving the Swiss Air Operator Certificate (AOC) for aeroplanes on January 13, 2023, the company can also independently conduct individual passenger and business flights with jets. As of September 2025, the BHS Aviation Group consists of BHS Aviation GmbH at the special airfield Bamberg-Breitenau in Germany and BHS Aviation AG at Zurich Airport in Switzerland. The fleet includes one helicopter and one jet.
