Overview

Boukè is a Belgian regional television channel based in Namur, serving the arrondissements of Namur (excluding Gembloux) and Philippeville. It is one of twelve local television stations in the French Community of Belgium. Originally launched as Canal C, the channel was renamed Boukè on 6 September 2021, taking its name from the Namur anthem "Li Bia Bouquet." The channel produces daily news bulletins, sports magazines, and cultural programming focused on its 22-commune coverage area. Its programming includes "Le journal," a 14-minute general news roundup; "L'invité"; "Le journal des communes"; "Plein cadre"; "Point barre"; "Quénès Novèles," a mock news program in the Namur Walloon dialect; "Le journal des régions"; "Alors On Change"; "Le Sport"; "Le Foot"; "Club de la presse"; and "L'Affiche." The channel also partners with local events such as the Folklore Saint Feuillen 2026. Boukè operates as a local media outlet with a strong regional identity, broadcasting in French and occasionally in Walloon.

History

The project that would become Boukè began in 1979 in Jambes. In 1982, Canal C expanded its coverage to the greater Namur area. By 1985, it was producing a daily program. In 1987, Canal C received official recognition through a decree from the French Community of Belgium, which allowed it to receive public funding. In 1993, its coverage area extended toward Condroz and Basse Sambre. In 1997, it began broadcasting in the Philippeville arrondissement. On 6 September 2021, Canal C was renamed Boukè, a reference to the song "Li Bia Bouquet," the Namur anthem since 1856 composed by Nicolas Bosret. The channel continues to serve as a local television station for the Namur region.
