Overview

Brokk is a demolition equipment brand whose origin story began at Rönnskärsverken, a metal processing plant near Skellefteå, Sweden, where two brothers, Lars and Per-Martin Holmgren, developed the industry's first remote-controlled demolition system. The company has been dedicated to demolition solutions since 1976 and today its remote-controlled demolition robots are used in more than 100 countries worldwide.

History

Brokk's origin story began at Rönnskärsverken, a metal processing plant near Skellefteå, Sweden. In the 1970s, cleaning lead furnaces was arduous and hazardous work, with workers manually removing slag and brick using handheld tools. Two brothers, Lars and Per-Martin Holmgren, saw an opportunity to improve safety and efficiency in demolition. Their original prototype, crafted by reengineering components from other machines, introduced the industry's first remote-controlled demolition system, which protected workers from hazardous environments and halved job completion time. The company gained momentum when Börje Hedlund joined as a business partner. With the Brokk 250 in production, the team named the robot "Brokk" after the dwarf who forged Thor's hammer in Nordic mythology. Since 1976, Brokk has been dedicated to delivering more efficient, profit-enhancing, and safer demolition solutions.
