History

Cadwell was formed in 1979 by John Cadwell, BSEE, MD, and his brother Carl Cadwell, DDS. John developed the world's first microprocessor EMG in the basement of his Seattle home during his residency at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Their first product was the Cadwell 7000 EMG. In the 1980s, the Cadwell 5200A became the best-selling EMG machine ever made, and the company moved to 909 N. Kellogg St. in 1986. In the 1990s, Cadwell replaced the 5200A with the Sierra line. In 1994, Cadwell sent the Quantum 84 IONM/EMG machine into outer space. In 1999, Cadwell released a dedicated surgical monitoring product, the Cascade. In the 2000s, Cadwell introduced Quick Report with Sierra Wave. In the 2010s, Cadwell expanded its Kennewick headquarters and hired international support teams in China, Singapore, The Netherlands, and UAE, and released the Arc EEG line.
