Calimacil designs and produces LARP (Live Action Role Play) weapons made of detailed, high-impact foam, presented as an alternative to latex and homemade weapons. Calimacil's own account states that its first sword was made of latex and featured a battery and two LEDs that illuminated the blade. After 6 months of manufacturing latex weapons, the team took a molding course at GYF Plastics, and eight more months of experimentation were needed to put a first safe weapon on the market. Calimacil states that it was at this moment in May 2004 that the 3rd generation of LARP weapons appeared (boffer, latex, all urethane casting), and describes itself as the first to realize a LARP weapon offering esthetics, safety and a feeling of realism. The company explains its name as meaning "bright sword," evoking the "smart" side of carrying out its projects.
