Overview
Caluzzi Cabaret is a drag cabaret dinner theatre in Auckland, New Zealand. It began in 1996 when two staff members of a humble café, chef 'Felicia Porget' and server 'Courtney Cartier', put on a dinner show for regulars, and it describes itself as the longest running cabaret in New Zealand. Located on Karangahape Road in the heart of Auckland, it offers a dinner-and-show experience with drag queen waitresses, comedy and performances, and is led by the drag queen duo Kita Mean and Anita Wigl'it, who took over in 2017.
History
Caluzzi began as a humble café. Two staff members, chef 'Felicia Porget' and server 'Courtney Cartier', would dress up after their shifts, and when café regulars asked them to do a show, a dinner show was organised on one night in 1996 and Caluzzi Cabaret was born. It describes itself as the longest running cabaret in New Zealand and is located on Karangahape Road in the heart of Auckland. Kita Mean and Anita Wigl'it, who have worked as a duo since 2012, took over Caluzzi in 2017 and continue its legacy.
