Overview

Castleton Commodities International LLC (CCI) describes itself as a leading global energy commodities merchant and infrastructure asset investor. Headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, CCI conducts business around the world through an integrated merchant and assets platform, deploying capital on a proprietary basis in physical and financial energy markets and investing in and developing energy infrastructure assets. The company traces its origins to 1997, when Louis Dreyfus Group formed an energy merchant subsidiary; in 2012 that business was acquired by management and a group of private investors and renamed Castleton Commodities International LLC.

History

CCI's history traces to 1997, when Louis Dreyfus Group formed an energy merchant subsidiary. In 2006, Highbridge Capital Management LLC made a significant minority equity investment in that subsidiary, forming Louis Dreyfus Highbridge Energy LLC. In 2011, Louis Dreyfus Highbridge Energy successfully monetized its midstream energy asset portfolio. In 2012, the business was acquired by management and a group of private investors and renamed Castleton Commodities International LLC (CCI); that year CCI also acquired two gas-fired power assets, Rensselaer (NY) and Signal Hill (TX). In 2016 CCI acquired certain East Texas assets from Anadarko. In 2017 CCI acquired MaasStroom, a combined cycle power plant in the Netherlands, and a controlling stake in Delta-Energy Group; Tokyo Gas also completed a strategic equity investment in CCI's upstream business, TG Natural Resources (formerly Castleton Resources). In 2018, as part of a JV, CCI acquired a power portfolio from Eversource Energy and rebranded it Granite Shore Power, and acquired NorTex Midstream (TX) and a 50% stake in the Enecogen Power Plant (Netherlands). In 2019 CCI acquired the Sherbino I wind farm (TX) and Mt. Storm wind farm (WV), and acquired Shell's Haynesville assets through TG Natural Resources.
