Overview
ClickHouse is a database company whose work on the ClickHouse open-source column-oriented database management system began in 2009. History
Work on ClickHouse began in 2009 with the vision of being the fastest OLAP database on earth. After three years of development, ClickHouse was released as an open-source project under the Apache 2 license in 2016. In 2021, ClickHouse, Inc. incorporated in Delaware with headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area, receiving an initial $50M investment from Index Ventures and Benchmark Capital in September, followed by a Series B funding round totaling $250M in October that established a $2B valuation. In 2022, European offices opened in Amsterdam and the company launched an early access program for its cloud service. In 2025, ClickHouse announced $350M Series C financing at its inaugural user conference, OpenHouse, in San Francisco. In 2026, ClickHouse announced $400M Series D financing and entered LLM observability with the acquisition of Langfuse.
