Coillte

Coillte is Ireland's semi-state forestry company, responsible for managing 440,000 hectares of primarily forested lands. It is the nation's largest forester and producer of certified wood, and the largest provider of outdoor recreation space in Ireland. The company also enables wind-energy on the estate, processes forestry by-products and undertakes nature rehabilitation projects. Coillte was incorporated on 8 December 1988 and commenced trading on 1 January 1989, taking over the forestry business formerly carried out by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. Its shares are held by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform. Coillte delivers the multiple benefits of forestry across four strategic pillars: Forests for Climate, Forests for Nature, Forests for Wood and Forests for People.

Coillte was incorporated on 8 December 1988 and commenced trading on 1 January 1989 when it took over the forestry business formerly carried out by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. The related assets were acquired and liabilities assumed as at 1 January 1989. One ordinary share is held by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and the remainder of the issued share capital is held by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform.
