Czech ARDF Association

The Czech ARDF Association (Czech: Asociace rádiového orientačního běhu České republiky, abbreviated AROB ČR; English: Czech ARDF Association) is a sport-technical association that brings together enthusiasts of radio orienteering (Czech: rádiový orientační běh, ROB) in the Czech Republic. It was founded in 1993. Its main activities are the organization of competitions, the maintenance of rules and regulations for radio orienteering, and the provision of state sport representation in the discipline. The association is governed by the Rada AROB (AROB Council), which is its statutory body and consists of a chairperson and six members. As of 2019 the chairperson was Miroslav Vlach, OK1UMY, with Tereza Skládanková as vice-chairperson. The association oversees national, youth and junior representation in radio orienteering, appointing coaches for the senior and youth/junior national teams. Over the years the Czech national team has been exceptionally successful, with athletes regularly placing among the world elite and bringing home medals from world and European championships. The senior national team is selected from athletes in categories D19, D20, M19 and M20, while the youth and junior national team is selected from categories D14, D16, M14 and M16. The coach of the state sport representation has been Andryi Gomzyk (FTU), and the coach of the youth and junior representation has been Miroslav Vlach (DCH). The association is composed of individual radio orienteering clubs, each of which is assigned an abbreviation based on its regional affiliation. For example, the model abbreviation AFK indicates Prague ("A") and the club index "FK". Individual members are then assigned indices following the pattern: club abbreviation + last two digits of birth year + serial number 0–49 (increased by 50 for women), e.g. ASP9311. Clubs are listed by region, including Prague (AFK – FOX–klub Praha z.s.; ASP – Radioklub OK1KYP, z.s.), Central Bohemia (BKA – Radio Orient Kamýk n/Vlt. z.s.), the West Bohemian area (DCH – Orientační sporty Cheb z.s.), the North Bohemian area (ETE – AVZO TSČ ČR TEPLICE hrad DOUBRAVKA, p.b. (oddíl ROB); ELB – SZTM ROB Liberec, z.s.), the East Bohemian area (FCS – ROB Česká Skalice z.s.; FPA – ROB Pardubice z.s.; FTU – Tělovýchovná jednota Turnov, z.s.
