Overview
Daiya Seiki Co., Ltd. (株式会社ダイヤ精機製作所) is a Japanese precision-machining manufacturer headquartered in Okaya, Nagano Prefecture, on the shore of Lake Suwa. Founded on 1 May 1951 with capital of 800,000 yen in Okaya's Tanakadori district, the company today operates with capital of 40 million yen and about 160 employees, and is led by President Yuji Oguchi. Its core business is the manufacture of precision machine-tool components — notably collet chucks and guide bushes — together with tooling and, more recently, parts for medical electron microscopes. The company describes itself as a multi-product, small-lot producer, a direction it deliberately took from 1964 when it increased capital and strengthened its tooling division. Over the decades it expanded its Okaya site with successive factory buildings (a three-storey plant in 1972, a second-factory west wing in 1984, a fourth factory and small gymnasium in 1989, a Kanayama plant in 1989, a Tokyo sales office in 1991, and a fifth factory dedicated to chucks and guide bushes in 2008), and opened a China production base, Daiya Precision Machinery (Changshu) Co., Ltd., in Changshu, Jiangsu, in 2007. It also maintains a Tokyo branch in Suginami and a Korea office in Busan. Quality and environmental certification are central to its identity: ISO 9001 (2000), ISO 14001 (2002) and ISO 13485 for medical-device quality management (2019). In 2019 it registered as a medical-device manufacturer and in 2024 obtained a Class III medical-device manufacturing and sales licence. It has been recognised by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as one of the "300 Vibrant Small and Medium Manufacturing Companies" (2006) and as a "Regional Future-Leading Company" (2018), and won the Grand Prix at the Monozukuri Awards NAGANO 2019. Its stated motto is to "make good products with a beautiful heart and contribute to society through our work."
