Overview

DAKA Entsorgungsunternehmen GmbH & Co. KG is an Austrian waste management and environmental services company headquartered in Schwaz, Tyrol. Founded in 1972 by Josef Danler and Herbert Kandler as a sewer cleaning business, it has grown into a Tyrolean family enterprise that describes itself as an important part of the Austrian waste management sector. The company's core activities are disposal (Entsorgung), recycling (Recycling), cleaning (Reinigung) and remediation (Sanierung), offered both as individual services and as integrated large-project solutions. DAKA serves municipalities and associations, trade and industry, households and private customers, and specific industry segments. Its service range includes container ordering through an online shop, waste collection and sorting, recycling of materials such as waste glass, hazardous waste handling, industrial cleaning, sewer and channel cleaning, and damage remediation — including fire damage restoration, where it coordinates with insurance experts and handles disposal, cleaning of equipment and machinery, and demolition of totally damaged buildings. The company operates a 24-hour emergency hotline and publishes a customer magazine, DAKA Dialog, twice a year. Since 1984 the business has been led by the Zitterbart family. Barbara Zitterbart and Mag. Matthias Zitterbart serve as managing directors, with Prok. Rüdiger Zitterbart heading technical operations and Prok. Martin Klingler leading sales. The company operates from its main site in Schwaz and additional locations including Hopfgarten and St. Johann in the Tyrolean Unterland. Its long-standing positioning is captured in the slogan 'Entsorgung mit Verantwortung' — disposal with responsibility — emphasizing reliability, innovation and quality awareness since 1972.

History

DAKA was founded in 1972 by Josef Danler and Herbert Kandler as a sewer cleaning business (Kanalreinigungsbetrieb). In 1976 the company put West Austria's first sewer TV camera into operation and started operations at its Schwaz industrial area site. In 1979 it opened a branch in St. Johann in the Tyrolean Unterland. In 1980 it built up waste glass collection in Tyrol together with the company Widmoser and acquired a stake in TKV – Tierkörperverwertung Tirol. In 1984 Barbara and Rüdiger Zitterbart took over the business, and the company entered special/hazardous waste disposal. Over the following decades DAKA expanded its service portfolio across disposal, recycling, cleaning and remediation, serving municipalities, industry, trade and private households. The company describes itself as a Tyrolean family business and an important part of the Austrian waste management sector, offering tailor-made complete solutions from a single source. It operates from its headquarters in Schwaz with additional locations including Hopfgarten, and maintains a 24-hour emergency hotline and the biannual customer magazine DAKA Dialog.
