Overview

Dantax Radio (Dantax A/S) is a Danish audio company founded in 1969 and headquartered in Pandrup, Denmark. Since its early years the company has been engaged in the design, development, production and sales of audio products, and it is listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. Its products are sold under the brands Scansonic, Raidho and Harmony. The company began by buying loudspeaker parts from other manufacturers and assembling them, and as sales grew it built a small loudspeaker production facility in Pandrup. The 1970s became the golden age of hi-fi, and Dantax established itself in that market by offering good value for money. In 1977 Dantax took over the Scan Speak factory, a world-famous producer of high-quality speaker units, and during the same period added the Scansonic brand to its portfolio. A new Scan Speak factory was built in Pandrup, and the joint expertise of Dantax and Scan Speak resulted in a wide range of loudspeaker models over subsequent years. A new milestone was achieved in 1984 when the company went public on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. Over the years, in addition to being a loudspeaker manufacturer, Dantax also acted as a distributor for a number of hi-fi brands, including Fisher Hifi, Sanyo, Schneider and Akai. In 1997 the loudspeaker factory was sold off, and since then the company has developed and produced its range of products in close cooperation with partners in other countries. In 2009 a new era began as Dantax took over the Raidho loudspeaker project, another significant milestone in the company's history. Hi-fi purists around the world consider Raidho to be among the leading high-end loudspeaker brands. Today Dantax A/S continues to operate as a listed Danish audio company with a portfolio spanning the Scansonic, Raidho and Harmony brands.
