Overview

Data Center Group (DC-Datacenter-Group GmbH) is a German company specialising in data centres and IT infrastructures. Headquartered in Wallmenroth in Rhineland-Palatinate, it develops, produces, plans and sells data centres and high-security products designed to protect IT infrastructures. The company was founded in 2005 as ProRZ Rechenzentrumsbau GmbH in Betzdorf, among others by Ralf Siefen, and has since grown through a series of sister companies, mergers and acquisitions into an integrated provider covering consulting, engineering, construction, products, services and the operation of high-performance data centres. The group's service portfolio is organised into six business areas: Consulting, Engineering, Construction, Products, Services and Solutions. Its offerings range from advisory and planning through physical construction to the operation of high-security data centres and data centre infrastructures. The company is active in edge computing, colocation and enterprise data centres. Its product range includes physical protection solutions such as the fire-resistant micro data centre 'DC IT Safe', prefabricated outdoor container data centres ('DC IT Container'), modular high-security rooms ('DC IT Room') that can be equipped with shielding against espionage ('DC IT Shielding'), data safes for storage media ('DC IT Data Safes') and the 'DC IT Monitoring' system with its 'DC IT Monitoring Agent' for continuous monitoring and analysis of data centre operations. Since 2020, MVV Enamic GmbH of Mannheim, a wholly owned subsidiary of MVV Energie AG, has been a shareholder; in 2021 founder Ralf Siefen sold his shares entirely to MVV Enamic, making Data Center Group a wholly owned subsidiary. The company reported revenue of around EUR 111.5 million in the 2020/2021 financial year with 156 employees. Its managing directors are Ralf Siefen (operational managing director and chairman of the management board), Philipp Riemen (HR and finance) and Markus Böhmer (technology). Besides its main site in the Westerwald, it maintains offices in Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne and Munich. Data Center Group has been involved in notable projects including data centres in wind farms (Westfalenwind IT GmbH & Co. KG, Paderborn, commissioned 2018), the high-availability data centres of Main DC in Offenbach (2020, a joint venture with EVO and Vantage Data Centers), an IT large-container-based data centre delivered and installed in Ghana (2021) and the 'Green Data Center' at Heidelberg Innovation Park, begun in autumn 2022 and completed at the end of 2023. In 2025 the company acquired 75% of the planning firm GePlan Ingenieure GmbH & Co. KG.

History

Data Center Group was founded in 2005 as ProRZ Rechenzentrumsbau GmbH (stylised proRZ Rechenzentrumsbau GmbH) in Betzdorf, among others by Ralf Siefen, for the construction of data centres and the design of secure IT infrastructure. In 2006 the sister companies SecuRisk GmbH (Wallmenroth) and RZ Services GmbH (Wallmenroth) were founded, and in the same year ProRZ Rechenzentrumsbau moved its registered office to Kirchen (Sieg). In September 2008 RZ-Products GmbH (renamed DC-Products GmbH in February 2023) was founded in Kirchen (Sieg). In November, ProRZ-Group GmbH (stylised proRZ-Group GmbH) was established in Betzdorf as the shareholder of ProRZ Rechenzentrumsbau, RZ Services, RZ-Products and SecuRisk GmbH. In 2010 the company founded ProRZ Rechenzentrumsbau Austria GmbH in Hallein. In January 2013 ProRZ Group was renamed DC-Datacenter-Group GmbH. In the same year ProRZ Rechenzentrumsbau presented a new energy management system that displays the energy consumption of data centres, and ProRZ Schweiz GmbH was founded in the Swiss canton of Zug. At the end of 2014 Data Center Group moved into a new administration and competence centre for consulting, planning, realisation, service and product development on the former site of Lampertz GmbH in Wallmenroth. As of 1 January 2017, ProRZ Rechenzentrumsbau, RZ Services GmbH, SecuRisk GmbH and RZ-IngCon merged into DC-Datacenter-Group GmbH. RZ-Products was initially continued as an independent subsidiary for international sales in the field of high-security construction technology. On 6 February 2024 it also merged into DC-Datacenter-Group GmbH. Through the merger, Data Center Group bundled its business areas for secure IT infrastructures (consulting, planning, structural implementation, high-security products, service and operation of data centres) under one name. In 2020 MVV Enamic GmbH of Mannheim (a wholly owned subsidiary of MVV Energie AG, Mannheim) became a shareholder of the company. In November of the same year, Data Center Group began construction of another major project in cooperation with Netze Duisburg GmbH. In 2021 Ralf Siefen sold his shareholder interests entirely to MVV Enamic. In 2025 Data Center Group acquired 75% of the shares in the planning firm GePlan Ingenieure GmbH & Co. KG. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of MVV Enamic GmbH, Mannheim. It maintains a fully consolidated subsidiary, DC-Products GmbH, Wallmenroth (100% as of 30 September 2021). Revenue in the 2020/2021 financial year was around EUR 111.5 million, with 156 employees. The managing directors are Ralf Siefen (operational managing director and chairman of the management board), Philipp Riemen (HR and finance) and Markus Böhmer (technology). Besides its headquarters in the Westerwald, Data Center Group has further offices in Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne and Munich.
