Democracy International

Democracy International works in four core areas in international development: Politics, Governance, Peace & Resilience, and Learning. It describes itself as powered by evidence, ideas, and partnership, advancing a more peaceful and democratic world. Its politics work supports political systems around the world to be responsive, inclusive, and competitive, including election administration and reform, election observation, political party and legislative strengthening, civic and voter education, political empowerment of marginalized groups, civil society advocacy and strengthening, media strengthening and freedom, and protection of fundamental political rights. A core reason for its founding was to improve democratic elections and political transitions programs, and it also serves as a thought leader providing analytical services such as specialized research, assessments, and evaluations. Its governance work supports accountable government systems and institutions that are responsive, effective, and transparent, promoting the rule of law and institutional strengthening.
