Overview
The Deutsches Informationszentrum Kulturförderung (DIZK) was a German internet database and information service dedicated to arts and culture funding. It was launched in 2003 as a joint initiative of the Kulturstiftung der Länder, the Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen, and the Kulturkreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft im Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie. The project was based in Berlin and aimed to create a central point of contact for information about private and public funding opportunities for art and culture. Its goal was reached in 2006, and on 1 December 2006 the then Minister-President of Lower Saxony, Christian Wulff, activated the online database. From 8 July 2008, the Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen became the sole supporting organisation of the DIZK. The database contained approximately 3,500 records, primarily covering German foundations that support arts and culture, while also including international funding bodies. The service was offered free of charge in German and English. The DIZK cooperated with the online edition of the Handbuch der Kulturpreise and, at European level, with LabforCulture, a platform run by the European Cultural Foundation in Amsterdam. The portal was discontinued on 15 June 2017.
