Overview

The Deutsches Liturgisches Institut (DLI) is an institute in Trier, Germany, founded in 1947 to promote the liturgical apostolate. It has been involved in liturgical research, education, and the development of German-language liturgical books, including the Gotteslob. It offers distance learning courses and publishes materials.

History

The Liturgische Institut in Trier was founded in 1947 on the initiative of members of the Liturgical Commission of the Fulda Bishops' Conference. The supporting association was renamed 'Deutsches Liturgisches Institut' in 1989. In the 1950s, the institute co-hosted international liturgical study meetings and congresses. Members contributed to the Second Vatican Council and the renewal of Latin liturgical books. The institute coordinated work on new German-language liturgical books, including the Gotteslob. Since 1985, 'Liturgie im Fernkurs' has provided liturgical education to interested laypeople.
