Overview
DevilCraft Tokyo Brewery is a Tokyo-based craft beer and pizza restaurant group founded by three American beer enthusiasts. The company operates multiple brewpubs across central Tokyo, combining house-brewed craft beer with Chicago-style deep-dish pizza. Since opening its first location in Kanda in 2011, DevilCraft has expanded to five locations and began brewing its own beer in 2015. The company is incorporated as DevilCraft株式会社 (DevilCraft Co., Ltd.) and is privately held.
History
DevilCraft was founded by three American beer enthusiasts—John Chambers, Jason Kowler, and Mike Grant—who met in Japan in 2008. Inspired by the American craft beer movement, they initially planned a production brewery focused on wholesale beer, but soon evolved the concept into a brewpub that would serve house-brewed beer alongside food. After years of planning and searching for a suitable location, the first DevilCraft pub opened in Kanda, Tokyo, in July 2011. In August 2013, a second location opened in Hamamatsucho, offering 21 taps. In early 2014, the company secured a site in an industrial area of Oimachi, Tokyo, ideal for brewing operations. In September 2015, DevilCraft obtained its brewing license and began brewing its own beer. The Gotanda location opened in 2016, followed by Jiyugaoka in 2019. As of 2019, the company had 60 employees. All DevilCraft beers are brewed at the Oimachi brewery and served at the four Tokyo pubs: Kanda, Hamamatsucho, Gotanda, and Jiyugaoka. A fifth location, DevilCraft – The Corner, opened near Kanda Station. The company is incorporated as DevilCraft株式会社, with its head office in Shinagawa, Tokyo.
