History

PT Dharma Satya Nusantara Tbk (DSN) was established on 29 September 1980. It initially focused on the timber industry, obtaining Forest Concession Rights (HPH) from the Indonesian government. In 1983, the company commenced a timber processing business with a focus on sawn timber production. In 1988, DSN became one of the pioneers in using sengon wood raw materials harvested from local plantations to replace natural forest wood, demonstrating early commitment to sustainable sourcing. Over the following decades, the company expanded its wood processing capabilities, producing barecore and other wood products. Recognizing the growing global demand for palm oil and its derivatives, DSN strategically entered the palm oil industry, developing its first plantation in East Kutai, East Kalimantan Province. This expansion allowed the company to become a prominent player in the sustainable palm oil sector. By the 2020s, palm oil contributed over 80% of total revenue. The company has also pursued sustainability certifications, including RSPO certification for subsidiaries such as PT Dharma Intisawit Lestari in 2022. DSNG is listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and continues to emphasize responsible growth, community partnerships, and environmental stewardship.
