Diamine

Diamine is a family-run British ink maker that has been producing inks since 1864, maintaining traditional ink making production methods. Its range covers Fountain Pen Inks, Calligraphy/Drawing Inks and Stamp Pads. The founder of Diamine as known today was Thomas Webster of T. Webster & Co., originally a broker from Bootle, Liverpool, who by 1870 had become a 'Drysalter' and by 1871 identified himself as an 'Ink Manufacturer'. In 1886 Thomas exhibited his Diamine Writing Inks at the International Exhibition of Navigation, Travelling, Commerce and Manufactures in Liverpool and received a gold medal. After Thomas passed away in 1913, his son Reginald took over the family business.

Diamine has been making ink since 1864 and has endeavoured to maintain traditional ink making production methods. It is a family-run business symbolising the finest quality in Fountain Pen Inks, Calligraphy/Drawing Inks and Stamp Pads. The founder of Diamine as known today was Thomas Webster of T. Webster & Co., originally a broker from Bootle, Liverpool, who studied at a boarding school in the English countryside during the 1840s. By 1870 Thomas had progressed to become a 'Drysalter' — a dealer in dyes, gums, glues and varnishes — preparing him for a career in ink manufacturing. By 1871 he identified himself as an 'Ink Manufacturer' on that year's census, and was one of only five Ink Manufacturers in the Liverpool area. In 1886, during the International Exhibition of Navigation, Travelling, Commerce and Manufactures held in Liverpool — the first international exhibition in Britain held outside London — Thomas exhibited his Diamine Writing Inks and later received a letter saying he had won a gold medal from the exhibition for his inks. In 1913 Thomas passed away surrounded by family and friends, and his son Reginald took over the family business.
