Overview

Dieselkino is an Austrian cinema chain headquartered in Graz. The company is owned by the brothers Andreas, Ernst and Wolfgang Diesel. It began as a cinema interior fit-out business serving cinemas in Austria and Germany before opening its first own cinema in Leibnitz in 1996. Further locations followed in Bärnbach (since closed), Fohnsdorf and Gleisdorf, with the most recent opening in Lieboch in 2017. As of 2017 the operating company, Diesel GmbH, also ran golf and mini-golf facilities and a summer toboggan run in Thailand. In June 2017 the construction of the Schloßbergrutsche in Graz was approved by a city senate resolution via a lease agreement; the slide opened on the Grazer Schloßberg in February 2019. The chain currently operates nine cinemas in four Austrian federal states: Braunau am Inn, Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße, Fohnsdorf, Gleisdorf, Leibnitz, Lieboch, Oberwart, Kapfenberg and St. Johann im Pongau. Together these cinemas count 48 screens, making Dieselkino one of the largest cinema operators in Austria. The official website presents the brand under the slogan "Kino wie noch nie" (cinema like never before), offering blockbusters, classics and family adventures in high presentation quality, and invites visitors to choose their location.
