Overview
Domachay (Russian: Домочай) is a Belarusian bakery and confectionery company formally known as the Open Joint-Stock Company "Bread and Confectionery Company "Domachay"" (ОАО «Булочно-кондитерская компания «Домочай»»). It is based in Mogilev, Belarus, at 39a Kosmonavtov Street, and its operations trace back to the Mogilev Bread Combine founded in 1927. The company produces a wide range of bread and bakery products, confectionery items and other baked goods, marketed under the Domachay brand with the slogan "We make products with warmth and care for you." The company's product portfolio spans bread loaves, cakes and sweets. Its signature product, the aromatic special bread "Domachay," was a laureate of the "Best Goods of the Republic of Belarus-2016" competition and was described as a sales leader in 2021–2022. The company operates its own retail network, a legacy of its Soviet-era structure, and sells throughout the Mogilev region and Belarus. Domachay is a successor to the Soviet-era Mogilev Bread Combine, which was established in 1927 under the People's Commissariat of Food Industry of the Byelorussian SSR. Over the decades it was reorganized multiple times, passing through various republican and regional bread-baking trusts. After World War II the combine was restored and resumed operations in 1944, and its bread factories were rebuilt in the late 1940s. In the post-Soviet period the enterprise was reorganized into an open joint-stock company and adopted the Domachay brand. The company remains an active Belarusian food producer, emphasizing traditional recipes, quality and local production. Its official website presents its history, product lines and contact information, and it maintains a presence in the Belarusian market as a regional bakery leader.
History
The history of Domachay begins with the Mogilev Bread Combine, established in 1927 by decree No. 391 of 29 June 1927 of the Central Executive Committee and Council of People's Commissars of the Byelorussian SSR, within the system of the People's Commissariat of Food Industry of the BSSR. From 1930, with its own retail trading network, it was named the "Mogilev Bread Combine named after the 10th Anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from the White Poles" and came under the Belarusian State Trust of the Baking Industry (Belkhlebtrest). In 1932, bread factory No. 1 on Bykhovskaya Street, 159, was put into operation, and in 1939 bread factory No. 2 on Pervomayskaya Street, 135, was reconstructed on the basis of a mechanical bakery. In 1940 the Mogilev Bread Combine was transferred to the Mogilev Regional Bread Baking Trust. During the Great Patriotic War (World War II) the combine did not operate. In July 1944 it resumed activity under the direct subordination of the Mogilev Regional Trust "Belglavkhleb." In 1947, according to the conclusion of a government commission dated 31 December, all restoration and installation work on the war-destroyed bread factory No. 2 was completed. In December 1950 the Mogilev Bread Combine came under the direct subordination of the Belarusian State Trust of the Baking Industry "Belglavkhlebtrest" of the Ministry of Food Industry of the BSSR. By a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the BSSR No. 537 of 11 May 1953, it was reorganized into the Mogilev Bread Combine with direct subordination to Belkhlebtrest of the Ministry of Light and Food Industry of the BSSR. In accordance with decision No. 80 of 23 March 1963 of the Mogilev (industrial) Regional Executive Committee, the Administration of Consumer Services and Local Industry of the Mogilev (industrial) Regional Executive Committee was formed, to which the combine was subordinated by order No. 831 of 10... (the historical record continues). After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the enterprise was reorganized into an open joint-stock company and adopted the Domachay brand. The company continued to produce bread, bakery and confectionery products for the Belarusian market. Its signature "Domachay" aromatic special bread was recognized as a laureate of the "Best Goods of the Republic of Belarus-2016" competition and was a sales leader in 2021–2022. The company maintains its headquarters and production in Mogilev and operates its own retail network.
