The company was originally incorporated as "Dick Raymond's Country Home Products," founded by Lyman Wood, Rich Alther, Dick Raymond, John Gibbons, and Bill Lockwood (who joined in 1986). Their first product was the Dick Raymond Work/Rest Wagon. In 1987, the DR Trimmer Mower was introduced, combining features of a handheld trimmer and a bladed mower; more than 800,000 DR Trimmers have been sold in the United States.
