Overview

Dunkerque LNG is the owner and operator of the Dunkerque LNG terminal, which was commercially commissioned on 1 January 2017. Its subsidiary Gaz Opale is the terminal's operator. History

In 2005, EDF studied several sites in France for locating an LNG terminal, and Dunkerque appeared as the most appropriate location. In 2006, the Port Autonome de Dunkerque launched a call for projects; the EDF group applied and was selected. The Clipon site (Port Ouest) was deemed ideal. In 2007, EDF and Dunkerque Port (formerly Port Autonome de Dunkerque) asked the Commission Nationale du Débat Public (CNDP) to organise a public debate. The Dunkerque LNG terminal was commercially commissioned on 1 January 2017.
