Overview

DW-Shop is a German fair trade company founded in 1976 as an initiative of the Deutsche Welthungerhilfe. It offers fair trade women's fashion, accessories, and home textiles, designed in-house and produced by over 60 partner businesses worldwide.

History

DW-Shop was founded in 1976 as an initiative of the Deutsche Welthungerhilfe. The starting point was a project at Lake Victoria in Kenya, where fishermen made hand-woven baskets during the stormy season to supplement their income. A separate trading platform was established to bring these products to Germany, which became DW-Shop. The first office and warehouse were in an apartment in Bonn.
