E-Walk Balikpapan

E-Walk Balikpapan is a shopping mall located in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. It was established in 2009 by the PAM (Pintu Air Mas) Group, making it the first mall developed within the Balikpapan Superblock (BSB), a mixed-use coastal development in the southern part of the city. The mall is directly connected to the later Pentacity Shopping Venue via an elevated bridge on the upper floors, creating a unified retail complex. The Balikpapan Superblock itself is developed by PT Wulandari Bangun Laksana, a subsidiary of PAM Group, and comprises malls, hotels, apartments, and shophouses. E-Walk preceded Pentacity, which broke ground in 2012 and opened in 2015. Together, the two malls anchor the retail component of the superblock. E-Walk is known for housing E-Walk XXI, a cinema that was the first in the BSB area before Pentacity XXI opened. The mall serves as a key shopping and entertainment destination in Balikpapan, offering retail, dining, and leisure options to residents and visitors of East Kalimantan.

Following E-Walk's opening, PAM Group proceeded with the development of a second, larger mall, Pentacity Shopping Venue. Construction of Pentacity began on 28 May 2012 with a groundbreaking ceremony attended by Balikpapan Mayor Rizal Effendi. Pentacity was initially targeted for completion in October 2014 but eventually opened on 10 October 2015. The two malls are connected by an elevated bridge on their top floors, making them appear as a single integrated complex. E-Walk houses E-Walk XXI, a cinema that was the first in the BSB area, preceding Pentacity XXI which opened in June 2018. Over the years, the Balikpapan Superblock has grown to include hotels such as Astara Hotel Balikpapan (opened 2017) and Pentacity Hotel Balikpapan (opened 2022), as well as apartment towers. E-Walk remains an active retail destination within this evolving mixed-use district.
