History

East West Manufacturing was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 2001 by entrepreneurs Scott Ellyson and Jeff Sweeney. From its inception, the company's driving force was to find new ways to add value for customers of all sizes, building strategic partnerships and a global footprint. In 2003, East West established a sourcing office in Shenzhen, China, and formed a joint venture motor factory in Changzhou, China. The following year, in 2004, the company opened its first Vietnam operations in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2007, a second Vietnam operation (EWI) was set up in Binh Duong. By 2010, EWI had purchased two additional 40,000-square-foot buildings in Binh Duong, expanding its manufacturing capacity. East West continued its global expansion in 2014 with its first India site in Chennai. In 2017, the company acquired Innovolt, a leader in electronic asset protection. The next year, 2018, it expanded in North America by acquiring Team Manufacturing, located outside Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2019, East West acquired General Microcircuits, Inc., located outside Charlotte, North Carolina, and in San Jose, Costa Rica. That same year, it launched its first Vertex EC Motor and acquired Suretech Assembly near Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as Adocotron in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2020, East West acquired Universal Electronics, Inc. in Whitewater, Wisconsin, and EWI built two additional solar-powered buildings, increasing its footprint to 250,000 square feet. Over more than 25 years, East West evolved from a sourcing and manufacturing partner into a full-service integrated manufacturing solutions (IMS) company. It provides design, manufacturing, and supply chain solutions with best-in-class capabilities. The company has partnered with some of the world's most recognizable brands and new disruptive players. In recent years, East West combined with Vexos to form East West + Vexos, an IMS company with more than 3,800 employees at 14 facilities in 7 countries. The combined entity serves industrial and energy, medical, and networking and AI infrastructure markets, leveraging cross-industry expertise to develop custom design, manufacturing, and supply chain solutions.
